BELIEFS & VALUES

The Bible

We believe the Bible, sixty-six books as commonly received in the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired word of God. Hence, the Bible contains all things necessary to salvation so that whatsoever is not written therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

The Godhead

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There are three eternal and unchangeable personal distinctions in the Godhead (Gen. 1:26 & 11:7; 2 Cor. 13:14; Matt. 28:19; Rom. 8:27; Jn. 14:26; 3:16 & 15:26).

Salvation

We believe that justification, regeneration and the new birth are produced by faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 5: 8-11; Heb. 9:22 & 1 Pet. 1:19).

Holy Living

We believe the pursuit of holy living is the normal manner of life for the believer.  This life is characterized by freedom from sinning; by a denial of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life (Rom. 12: 1-2; 2 Tim. 4: 7; Tit. 2: 12; Heb. 12: 1-2; & 12: 14).

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, his indwelling presence and that the manifestations of the Holy Spirit are given to every believer for the profit of all (Mat. 3: 11; Acts 1: 8; Acts 2: 4, 38 & 1 Cor. 12: 7-11).

Ordinances

We believe in Baptism in water by immersion (Matt. 28: 18-20; Mk. 16: 16; Acts 2: 38 & Rom. 6: 3-4) and the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion (Matt. 26: 26-29; Mk. 14: 22-25; Lk. 22: 19-20; 1 Cor. 10: 16 & 11:23-26), as being the two sacraments instituted by Christ for His Church.

The Ministry

We believe that the five-fold ministries of the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers are given to the church  “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4: 11, 12 & 1 Cor. 12: 38).  We believe in the appointment of Pastors and Deacons (Acts 6: 1-6; 14: 23; 15: 6  & Phil. 1:1) for the local church ministry and government through the scriptural manner of ordination by the laying on of hands (Acts 6:6; 1 Tim. 4:14 & Tit. 1:5).

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the literal Second Coming of Jesus Christ to earth (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4: 13-17 & Heb. 9: 28) and in the rewarding of the righteous and the just punishment of the wicked (2 Tim. 4: 8; Rev. 11: 18 & 22 & Rev. 20: 11-15).

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He was crucified, buried and raised from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor (Lk. 24: 29; 1 Cor. 15: 3&4: 1 Tim. 3: 16; Lk. 24: 51; Heb. 2: 16-18).
